The annual Literacy Network Seminar took place on June 14, 2014, and twenty two of our tutors were able to attend.
As in the past, Jill Gavin, literacy tutor and past president, touched on some of the grammar difficulties faced by our learners and gave valuable tips and insights on how we could help our students overcome them.
Rigzin Yuthok, settlement grant worker with the Tibetan community, provided some background information about the groups with whom some of our tutors are now working. The question and answer session with Rigzin was a highlight of the seminar.
As always, the seminar finished with small group discussions. Judging by the buzz in the room, the opportunity for tutors to share their experiences was greatly appreciated!Many thanks to Liz, Robyn, Jill and Rigzin for such a productive and successful day, and to all the tutors who were able to attend.
